Juliana São Tiago


Juliana São Tiago earned her Bachelors Degree in Brasil at Uberaba University (UNIUBE) in Psychology and her Masters in counseling Psychology Degree at Holy Names University in Oakland, CA. Being originally from Brasil and having lived in the Bay Area since 2002, São Tiago has expertise in cross-cultural and immigration issues. She is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish and has extensive experience working with culturally diverse clients, mixed couples and blended families.

São Tiago is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist that has been working with traumatized populations and individuals of various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds since 2011, performing psychotherapy, clinical psychosocial diagnosis, psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, counseling, case management, and consultation services to numerous families.

São Tiago worked at Oakland Unified School District with children from kindergarten to 5th grade in two urban school settings, providing counseling, conflict mediation, crisis intervention and facilitating student success team meetings. She provided group therapy, working with current and near-future transitions including the transition from 5th graders into middle school. She provided counseling to different family members and performed home visits when necessary. In addition, São Tiago worked with students with high absence rates, grieving families and families with language barriers (Spanish).

São Tiago also worked at Family Works Community Counseling in Richmond, California with traumatized populations. She provided crises intervention; conducted therapeutic individual, couples and family sessions, in Spanish, Portuguese and English; provided case management and consultation services to individuals, couples and families; and performed clinical diagnosis, psychosocial assessments and psychological evaluations for immigration cases.

Additionally, São Tiago worked at Kaiser Permanente Psychiatric Department in Oakland, conducting therapeutic individual and group sessions in Spanish, Portuguese and English; conducted assessments and clinical diagnosis; collaborated with psychiatrists and primary care providers in patient care and participated in Intense Outpatient Program (IOP) working with groups of high-risk patients.
